In lieu of the Grammy Reggae Album Nominations and Sizzla performance at the recent staging of Sting, one would expect that the organizers of the most recognized entertainment award show worldwide would seek to distance themselves from the act and his pronouncements.

The Grammy which has existed for over 50 years have always been a platform that recognized art and its diversity but most of all those who exist in such space.

Sizzla who is a Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall musician over the years have champion a blatant Homophobic stance in spite of various international promoters and organizers distancing themselves from the act and even the revocation of several travel documents.

One would assume that with caliber ‎of The Grammy’s and The Recording Academy and them recognizing openly gay artiste such as Frank Ocean, they would have dropped the artiste (Sizzla) from the nomination list due to his blatant and continuous stance in promoting Hate Lyrics and Discrimination towards members of the LGBT community. ‎

One can not ignore Sizzla’s contribution to the industry however, we can’t turn a blind eye to his prolong negativity and the injustice his fellow gay Jamaican faces daily.  The Reggae Industry over the years has produced a reservoir of talent  from which such accolades would be more fitting of. ‎

Any artiste who continues in this day and age to promote Homophobic lyrics and received international recognition only helps to deter ‎the fight for Equality, Justice and Freedom for all irrespective of their beliefs and sexual orientation.
